First, let me get this off my chest! Are you guys in your hot hockey sports era? Is it just me? I love this sports era, mainly hockey being featured in romance books. It's something about seeing a hero in their element, chasing the high of a game, and falling for a broken heroine. Put in a great love story by Kat Mizera and Elise Faber, and you have MAGIC!
"As long as you try to understand that it's okay to let people who care about you-you know, like maybe the man in your life-spoil you once in a while. Is that so hard for you to accept?"
Banks Christianson is the captain of the SoCal Vipers. His stats are falling, and he is not doing well in his season. Too much is consuming him, like moving to a new city, grieving for his lost friend, and feeling a piece of his heart is missing. Life is not the same as it once was, even with his recent move to be closer to friends and family. This all changes when he meets a so-called bouncer in the form of Aspen Rockwell.
Aspen Rockwell is just going through the motions. She wakes up each morning, goes to her next job, and sleeps. She repeats this cycle each day to pay her bills. Aspen is a tough cookie to crack, but she knows something greater will eventually appear, and she won't have to struggle as much. Banks Christianson was her saving grace in disguise!
"I want to give her anything she needs."
Banks was the definition of a hot cinnamon roll. He is protective, lovable, and takes care of his family. He took Aspen under his wing; even with her pulling back, he knew she was IT for him and made it his mission to have her fall in love with him. Throughout the story, I cheered Banks on to not give up on Aspen! Aspen had a lot of fights in her and trusted no one; she did not need a savior; she was fine doing everything by herself!
I loved how strong Aspen was at times, but it was a relief when she let her guard down and started to let Banks be her better other half. Aspen got the family; she never knew she needed it, and she found the love of her life!
"Your part of me now, Aspen, which means your're also part of our family."
This book brings a fresh twist to the classic Cinderella theme, with a heroine needing her prince to sweep her off her feet. I absolutely loved the steamy scenes and the drama throughout! This story is one that will stay with me, and I’m already counting down the days until I can read the next book in the series. I’m thrilled to give this book five stars and a perfect five-heart rating on my scale! If you haven’t picked up the book yet, don’t hesitate—it's a read you won’t regret!
Book Blurb:
She hates me…
I’m going to make her fall in love with me anyway.
As captain of the SoCal Vipers, the last couple of seasons haven’t been going well. My stats are slipping, and I’m at risk of being traded.
So, I’m not in the mood for a case of mistaken identity with the woman playing bouncer at the arena door.
But when I find out she’s come to town to escape her controlling family and make a fresh start, I know I can’t just let her walk away.
I’ll do anything to make sure she’s safe.
And if that means claiming her forever…then all the better.
Because she’s mine.
Even if she doesn’t know it yet.
When the Game Breakers meet more than hearts will be broken…
They’ll claim, protect, and...maybe just rock their women's worlds.
